Collect
Start by gathering your scrap metal as indicated in our What We Buy section. Make sure it's clean and sorted to get the best value.

Find your DMS location

Once the metals are loaded and ready to go, choose the DMS location nearest to you. Each facility has been set up for quick and easy unloading, with staff ready to assist you.

Bring us your metals

Drive in and drop off your scrap metals. Our team will weigh and grade your materials on the spot.

Once your metal is weighed and priced, you’ll receive instant payment—cash in hand!

What we buy

A/C Units
Accepted units include window, rooftop, and stand-alone air conditioners. They must be properly decommissioned before drop-off.
Auto Cast
Includes brake rotors and drums that are completely free of fluids and oils.
Bushelling
Industrial-grade scrap steel from manufacturing processes. Contact the purchasing team for grade information.
Cast Iron
Commonly formed into products like pipes, sewer grates, and machinery parts.
Complete Vehicles
End-of-life or scrap vehicles. Please call ahead for service details and availability.
Dealer Clips
Light gauge steel suitable for shredding, free from contaminants.
Heavy Melt (HMS)
Older, obsolete steel recovered from equipment or machinery. May be prepared or unprepared.
Machinery
All fluids must be drained and batteries removed before drop-off. Contact us for larger items.
Mixed Tin / Shred
Light gauge steel for shredding that may contain non-metallic materials such as wiring or insulation.
Plate & Structural
Structural steel, either prepared or unprepared, such as beams and other heavy components.
Rebar
Steel reinforcing bars commonly used in concrete and building construction.
Steel Rims
Rims from vehicles or machinery; all tires must be removed first.
Steel Turnings
Small shavings or filings created during steel machining processes.
Tool Steel
High-strength steel used in manufacturing tools or cutting equipment. Grade testing may be required.
White Goods
Large household appliances like refrigerators, stoves, and dishwashers.
AL Thermo-Pane
Aluminum that contains insulation.
Aluminum / Copper Radiators
Radiators from air conditioners, accepted either clean or with steel and/or plastic still attached.
Aluminum Cans
All types of beverage cans made of aluminum, such as soda, beer, and pop cans.
Aluminum Plate
Flat aluminum sheets used in manufacturing. Contact the purchasing team for grade details.
Aluminum Radiator
Heat sinks and radiators made from aluminum, used in various applications.
Aluminum Rims
Rims for vehicles, including chrome and clad styles; tires must be removed.
Aluminum Siding
Siding and eavestrough pieces, free of foam or other contaminants.
Aluminum Transformers
Transformers built with aluminum windings.
Aluminum Turnings
Shavings and scraps from aluminum machining processes.
Cast Aluminum
Molded aluminum products.
Extruded Aluminum
Aluminum that has been shaped by an extrusion process.
Insulated Aluminum Wire
Aluminum wire with insulation; recovery value determined on-site.
Irony Aluminum
Aluminum with iron attachments or contamination present.
MLC (Mixed Low Copper)
Aluminum that contains a small amount of copper.
Old Sheet Aluminum
Mixed aluminum scrap, commonly sourced from construction projects.
Alkaline Batteries
Standard household batteries such as AA, AAA, AAAA, C, D, and 12V. Rechargeable types are not accepted.
Car Batteries
Lead acid batteries removed from most vehicles.
Forklift Batteries
Lead acid batteries commonly found in forklifts and industrial machinery.
Lead Acid Batteries
Lead acid batteries used in applications like battery backups or other systems.
Steel Case Batteries
Lead acid batteries with a steel casing.
Brass
Includes yellow, gear, c-metal, red, and other brass types, often from plumbing fixtures, handles, nozzles, and machine shop cut-offs.
Brass EDM Wire
Brass wire designed for cutting with electric discharge machines (EDM).
Brass Faucets
Faucets containing brass components and attachments.
Brass Shells
Empty ammunition casings made of brass. Live ammunition is not accepted.
Brass Turnings
Shavings and chips from brass machining processes.
Copper Brass Radiators
Heat sinks and radiators made from a combination of copper and brass.
Aluminum / Copper Radiators
Found in air conditioners. Accepted either clean or with steel and/or plastic attached.
Alternators / Starters
Automotive electrical parts containing copper components.
Bare Bright Wire
Bright, uncoated, and unalloyed copper electrical wire.
Bronze
Alloy made from copper and tin.
Compressors
Compressors with copper content.
Copper Bus Bar
Conductive copper used for electrical distribution.
Copper Pipe
Copper piping commonly used in plumbing; all grades accepted (#1, #2, etc.).
Copper Transformers
Transformers that contain copper coils.
Electric Motors
Motors made with copper and steel components.
Roofing Copper
Weather-resistant copper sheeting for roofs, free of tar.
Air Conditioners
Units from windows, rooftops, or stand-alone systems. Must be properly decommissioned.
Aluminum Cans
Beverage cans including pop, soda, and beer cans.
Aluminum Siding
Protective siding and eavestroughs typically used on homes.
Appliances
Household items like dishwashers, washers, dryers, fridges, and stoves. Must be drained of all fluids or gas.
Bicycles
Steel or aluminum frames and parts, including individual metal components.
Christmas Lights
Decorative string lights. Bulbs do not need to be removed.
Copper Tubing
Commonly used in plumbing applications.
Lawnmower
Must be drained of all fluids or gas before drop-off.
Radiators
Heating units for homes. Must be drained of all fluids or gas.
Pots & Pans
Cookware made of various metals.
Power & Hand Tools
Tools with electric motors or metal components such as drills, saws, and similar equipment.
Snowblower
Must be drained of all fluids or gas before drop-off.
Sports Equipment
Frames and items such as trampolines, exercise bikes, gym weights, and treadmill parts.
Tin Cans
Must be rinsed and free of food residue.
Water Heater
Must be drained of all fluids or gas before drop-off.
Wrought Iron Fencing
Decorative fencing made of wrought iron.
1S Wire
Aluminum wire commonly used in service lines to homes.
ACSR
Aluminum-conductor, steel-reinforced wire, typically for power lines.
Aluminum BX
Armored electric cable with an aluminum jacket.
Car Harness Wires
Electrical wiring systems from vehicles.
Christmas Lights
Decorative and festive lighting; bulbs do not need to be removed.
Ethernet Cable
Network cables for internet and data connections.
Extension / Power Cords
Power cords and extensions for appliances and electronics.
Insulated Aluminum Wire
Aluminum wire with insulation; recovery determined on site.
Insulated Copper Wire (ICW)
Copper wire with insulation; recovery determined on site.
Steel BX
Armored electric cable with steel insulation.
304 Stainless Steel (Non-Magnetic)
Corrosion-resistant alloy commonly used in manufacturing applications.
316 Stainless Steel (Non-Magnetic)
Stainless alloy that requires analysis by our team.
Babbit
Soft bearing alloy typically used in ball bearing production.
Ballasts
Electronic and copper-based ballasts; must be clearly marked “no PCBs.”
Carbide Inserts
Hard materials used in machining and drilling applications.
Catalytic Converters
Emission control components found in vehicles.
Haselloy
Nickel-molybdenum alloy.
Inconel
Nickel-based alloy.
Lead
Commonly found in keel, fishing weights, older pipes, and ballasts.
Lead Wheel Weights
Counterweights for balancing vehicle wheels.
Monel
Nickel-copper alloy that requires analysis by our team.
Nickel
Typically alloyed with other metals for various applications.
Pewter
Tin-based alloy.
Stainless Steel Turnings

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. We are open to the general public. You do not need to be a commercial or industrial customer to bring us your scrap metal. Here is a list of DMS locations and hours.


At DMS Metals, safety is our number one priority. The following are a few pointers to help keep you safe while visiting one of our facilities: 

  • Follow all posted rules and obey directions from DMS Metals employees/personnel; 
  • Remain in customer-designated areas only; 
  • Wear a shirt, closed-toe shoes, and full length pants, when visiting one of our yards; 
  • Be aware of trip hazards, including loose materials that may be on the ground; 
  • Keep an eye out for moving equipment; 
  • Children and pets must remain in vehicles at all times; and 
  • Drive slow and be cautious of other customers and employees. 

We recommend that you dress approrpriately for an industrial/commercial environment (i.e. shirt, closed toe shoes and full length pants).

While accessing our facilities by vehicle is the best and preferred method, you are welcome to drop off scrap metal by walking or biking in to one of our public yards.


No. We are equipped to handle all quantities of scrap metal. However, the more the better!


To get the most value for your scrap metals it is best to bring them to one of our facilities. However, DMS does offer bin services for the collection of larger quantities of scrap metal. If you’re looking for a bin, or to learn more about our collection services, please visit out contact us page for more information.


Any sealed tanks and cylinders must either be cut in half or have a sizable hole allowing DMS Metals personnel to verify that the tanks or cylinders are empty.


DMS Metals will recycle most appliances that contain metal, including refrigerators, water heaters, washers, and dryers.
